Despite prices of more than 600 Euro: Instead of a real case, Apple’s AirPods Max, which has just come onto the market, only has a so-called Smart Case at. This is attached around the ear cups and ensures that the over-the-ear headphones fall into a deep sleep that protects the battery – but it neither protects the bracket nor serves as a carrying case. The well-known Apple accessories specialist Waterfield Designs from San Francisco is now providing a remedy and has launched the AirPods Max Shield Case, a packaging specially designed for the new Apple audio product.

Energy saving mode is supported The shield case is a classic oval case in which the AirPods Max disappear completely. It is lined with a velvety material and the outside consists of full-grain leather plus “ballistic” nylon or waxed canvas. A total of four colors are offered: chocolate, black, blue and carmine red. Practically integrated is a magnet system that includes Apple’s smart case functionality – a “Magnetic Leather Butterfly” puts the AirPods Max into low-power mode. Two outside pockets – one with a zipper – are used for accessories.

Big and heavy like the AirPods Max However, the fun is not cheap: Waterfield Designs, which manufactures its products directly in California, demands full for the AirPods Max Shield Case U.S. dollar. With 24 times 6 times 23 centimeters and a weight of 100 or 408 grams plus AirPods Max, it is also voluminous. In theory, it is even possible to insert the AirPods Max including the Smart Case.

Waiting time for case and headphones Waterfield Designs sells the case in production cycles, some of which are already sold out – those currently ordering will receive the shield case in mid-February. However, even Apple is currently finding it difficult to deliver its AirPods Max itself. The colors space gray and silver will not be sent before the end of February, all others (green, sky blue and pink) only in eight to ten weeks. The price for the AirPods Max went up after the German government’s VAT increase 612, 70 Euro up.
