Wi-Fi 6 is still a long way from being established, as Wi-Fi 6E is already in the starting blocks. With the Nighthawk RAXE 500 Netgear has now introduced what it claims to be the first Wi-Fi 6E router.
Regular Wi-Fi 6 is still limited to the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band. Only at the end 2020 were additional frequency ranges in the 6 GHz band released for W-LAN use in Germany. This is exactly what Wi-Fi 6E should now benefit from as a supplement to the Wi-Fi 6 standard. The 6 GHz band is intended to improve network capacity, especially in areas where the frequency ranges that have been used up to now are already heavily used. Netgear’s newer 12 – Stream Tri-Band WiFi Router Nighthawk RAXE 500 should be able to exploit this advantage. The manufacturer then promises a larger available frequency spectrum accordingly. With the supervision of low latencies, gamers are lured by the few devices in the 6 GHz band. Netgear specifies the maximum transmission speed as 10, 8 Gbit / s.
