?? DSLR cameras aren’t dead, at least not for Nikon! In fact, according to an internal document of the Japanese society, in 2021 new solutions and new objectives will arrive. But without forgetting the mirrorless .??

Nikon latest fiscal results were not particularly encouraging and the choice of reduce the workforce of 20% are added to a situation not brilliant. To revive, try to revive the brand , the manufacturer will implement different strategies by also aiming on mirrorless cameras but also on DSLR .

For Nikon SLRs are not at the end

According to an internal presentation whose details are not public, the DSLR (and F-mount lenses) will still be an important part of the Nikon . In fact, there will be at least two new SLRs that will be announced next year.

There is no information regarding the technical characteristics, but it is likely that they will be solutions of high-end to allow you to have a greater profit margin. In addition, new lenses will also arrive with attack F allowing enthusiasts and professionals who do not want to switch to mirrorless , to continue to have updated models.

If until now the DSLR have sold (for Nikon ) more than mirrorless , in the next two months the latter should definitely exceed them. A clear signal for the future.

Mirrorless cameras will still be the main focus

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the research and development of Nikon has long focused on mirrorless . As we know, there will be many new lenses in the future while the new Z 7II and Z 6II have recently been launched. In particular, the first will actually be on sale in volumes from mid-December.

A total of 8 new lenses with Z mount will arrive by 31 December 2021 allowing to expand the choice for consumers. In particular, the zoom could be interesting 100 – 400 mm which could be a high quality solution but also high selling.

Always Nikon would have confirmed an aggressive firmware update campaign. This should bring new features on the first versions and even more advanced features on the most recent ones. All this should allow to further retain the user. For example there could be an ad hoc update for the Eye-AF dedicated to wildlife and not just pets.
