EK Water Blocks has already announced its water cooler for the Founders Edition of the GeForce RTX – 3000 series however, concrete details are revealed. The EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB will initially be available in two versions. As the name suggests, this is intended for the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition and is available in the colors or optics Black Special Edition and Silver Special Edition.

From a purely visual point of view, both variants rely on a high contrast between the aluminum on the front and for the backplate, as well as the plexiglass cover and the lighting. In both cases, a nickel-plated copper water cooler is used, which is covered once with a bright aluminum housing and once with a matt black one, also made of aluminum. The connections for the water cooling circuit are no longer on the front of the cooler, but at the rear end of the card. The extremely short PCB enables EKWB to do this. In this case, however, you want to give users another option and more variability in the tubing. The connections can simply be directed backwards or stand out of the cooler by 90 ° forwards. Such a position of the connections is only made possible by the V-shaped PCB design of the Founders Edition cards.

The tightly packed PCB and the extreme density, however, place certain requirements on the cooling . EKWB counters this with a 12 mm thick cooler. The cooling engine, i.e. the area through which the water flows, is 30% larger than with the previous EK-Quantum-Vector water coolers.

The already mentioned cover around the plexiglass is made by EKWB 20 mm thick aluminum. EPDM O-Rings seal the water cooling circuit between the cooler and the plexis glass cover. The water is led through a total of 31 only 0.6 mm wide microfins. A large part of the waste heat is to be transferred from the heat sink to the water. The design of the backplate takes up the V-shaped design of the PCB.

RGB fans shouldn’t miss out either, because EKWB builds a total of 20 D-RGB LEDs that are addressable. The LEDs are compatible with the manufacturers’ common RGB systems and can be controlled accordingly.

The EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D- RGB should be available from the beginning of December. The price for both variants is 269, 90 Euro. We are currently looking at the EK-Quantum Vector TUF RTX 3080 / 3090 D-RGB. The corresponding test report should go online in the next few days.
