With rich colors and well-composed contrasts, the pictures of the day show the beauty of the world this time – even in places where you don’t expect it.

About 2020 kilometers lie between the first picture of the day and the last Picture of the day this week. They could hardly be more different. Photographer muscipulaa captures a seemingly naturally overgrown jungle on the Azores archipelago. The dominant green is a treat for the eyes. The blue accents of the small flowers add tension to the picture. Due to the wide-angled focal length and the high depth of field, the various shades of green build up on an equal footing with one another and reinforce the imposing image effect.

They are also created by photographer ollerkauz in Hamburg harbor. Its crisp, rich processing emphasizes the red-blue contrast and thus the ingenious crane technology, the cloud clouds and the central perspective bring depth to the picture.

But our pictures of the day had between the Azores and the Port of Hamburg much more to offer, as our photo series shows.
