We recently talked about firmware update 3. 00 which enables the medium format mirrorless camera Fujifilm GFX 100 to access the multi-shot mode Pixel Shift Multi -Sho t, to take pictures from 400 megapixel with color sampling of each chromatic component on the individual pixels. Fujifilm, however, puts another novelty on the plate for its medium format mirrorless, the version for infrared photography: Fujifilm GFX 100 IR .
102 and 400 megapixels also in infrared
It is, let’s say it immediately, a product that is not dedicated to the consumer market , but specifically to some applications, such as scientific, forensic and cultural heritage preservation . Also the new version GFX 100 IR (Infrared) allows you to shoot with the new mode a 400 megapixels, with very interesting implications, for example, for infrared analysis of works of art or counterfeiting of documents .
In In practice, the IR filter that generally all sensors have is removed and through filters on the optics it is possible to analyze different portions of the spectrum, even going into infrared. With an IR filter on the lens the camera is then able to take ‘normal’ color photos.
It will not be a camera normally available in stores, but will only be available through a direct procedure , which passes from the signing of an agreement ‘ GFX 100 IR User Agreemen t ‘on the terms of use of the camera. Availability is expected from the beginning of December.
