In the first half of the year the possibility emerged that Fujifilm was developing a new zoom lens to be included in its product range. We refer to the Fujinon XF 70 – 300 mm F4-5.6 which, according to new entries corridor, could arrive in the first part of 2021 continuing the expansion project of the series of lenses dedicated to Fujifilm X systems.
Fujinon XF 70 – 300 mm F4-5.6 at the beginning 2021?
As visible in the last roadmap (shown in the link above), the new Fujinon XF 70 – 300 mm F4-5.6 is reported as ready for launch next year, but Fujirumors has now confirmed that it will be announced in the first few months. Various information is still missing but we already know, officially, that it will be equipped with OIS, as was to be expected.
This new solution will thus be inserted between the XF – 200 mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS and solutions with even more focal length such as the XF 100 – 400 mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR or the versatile XF 18 – 135 mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR.
We do not know if this solution will also have the treatment to resist bad weather and a lot will also depend on the price positioning that Fujifilm will want to give it. This would still allow to distinguish from 55 – 200 mm and instead approach the 100 – 400 mm allowing you to use it even in difficult environmental conditions without too many worries. All that remains is to wait for further information, also thinking that from 25 to 28 February 2021 yes will hold (on-line) the CP + 2021, an important showcase where Fujifilm could think of announcing the new Fujinon XF 70 – 300 mm F4-5.6 .
