Fujitsu presents extremely light laptops from Tiger Lake and Renoir
Source: Pure PC added 22nd Oct 2020Light and slim laptops with low-voltage processors are no longer a surprising picture. Manufacturers have long competed for the thinnest and lightest laptops, which, for example, in a backpack or other bag, we will hardly feel at all. Of course, this is not without sacrifice – the thinner and slimmer, the smaller the battery and the more modest cooling system we will find inside. This time we present new products from Fujitsu, which went even further and showed new laptops weighing much less than 1 kilogram. When checking the specification and weight, you can wonder at what cost it was possible to create ordinary laptops weighing less than 700 or 900 grams. We certainly do not expect large batteries there.
Fujitsu presented two new laptops: Lifebook UH-X / E3 and Lifebook UH 90 / E3. The first is based on Intel Tiger Lake processors, the second on the AMD Ryzen series APU 4000.
The Fujitsu Lifebook UH-X / E3 Ultrabook weighs only 634 grams. How is it possible with a 3-inch laptop 13, which is not a hybrid with a detachable screen? The manufacturer applied several design modifications. First of all, the metal top shell has been replaced with a carbon fiber cover which is much lighter. In addition, the number of structural elements has been reduced from 80 to 40. Also, the traditional DC charging port has been replaced by a slimmer USB Type-C connector. In addition, the bezels around the screen have been further reduced, which has resulted in a reduction in the size of all equipment. Such far-reaching changes in the design of the equipment resulted in the installation of a very small battery with a capacity of 25 Wh. However, the manufacturer declares that thanks to the presence of Intel Tiger Lake-U processors and an IZGO matrix, the battery charging time will reach 11 hours.
Fujitsu also announced the Lifebook UH laptops 90 / E3 and Lifebook UH 75 / E3. The former will be based on Intel Tiger Lake-U processors, while the latter will feature the AMD Ryzen 7 4700 U APU from the Renoir family. In this case, we will get a slightly higher weight of 834 grams , but at the same time with a much larger battery with a capacity 54 Wh. While the model with Intel will again receive an IZGO type matrix, the variant with AMD will get a regular IPS screen. Initially the Fujitsu Lifebook laptops will only be available in Japan, but we expect them to debut in Europe after some time. The Fujitsu Lifebook UH-X / E3 will be available from 30 October with prices starting around 2100 USD, Lifebook UH 90 / E3 will be available from approx. 2000 USD (also 165 October), while Lifebook UH 75 / AMD’s E3 will be available in December at a price starting from
