G.Skill KM250 RGB Mechanical Keyboard Review – Great Value!
Source: Tech Power Up added 16th Nov 2023Introduction
There are over 50 reviews on TechPowerUp of G.Skill products and it would not take a genius to correctly point out that the vast majority of these reviews cover RAM kits. Indeed, if you had to ask a random person attending, say, Computex what G.Skill was famous for then chances are high they would point to the large G.Skill overclocking booth in the show floor and say RAM and memory products. Yet we have seen G.Skill try its hand with other product lines including keyboards, mice, even CPU coolers and cases. When it comes to G.Skill keyboards, it is easy to tell from the product name where it is positioned in the lineup with a larger number indicating it is more premium. Thus far, we have covered the KM780, KM570, and KM360 which is hilarious in hindsight since G.Skill seems to be going from expensive to more budget-friendly unlike what a brand typically does. The trend continues today with the even more value-oriented KM250 and thanks to G.Skill for providing a review sample to TechPowerUp.
Now there is a chance that the numbers in the product name also hint towards how large the keyboard is, with the KM780 and KM570 being full-size keyboards and the KM360 going the tenkeyless (TKL) route. Today’s subject is the G.Skill KM250 RGB which is a 65% form factor keyboard in the US ANSI layout and having a total of 67 keys. As is popular these days, we find a dedicated volume knob at the top right corner that would otherwise have been taken up by the standard 68th key in this keyboard size. There is certainly RGB lighting on this keyboard as the stock photo suggests and G.Skill is also using pudding-style keycaps to accentuate the lighting around the entire keyboard. The company rep marketed this as a keyboard that will be dominating entry level keyboard sales this year and yet this happens to be a mechanical keyboard with features you would expect to find in more expensive keyboards. Let’s find out what all these features are in this review which begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
