Two-time F1 Esports champion will race with the colors of the Ferrari Driver Academy Esports Team for the season 2021

As a result of this announcement, for the first time ever an F1 Esports team is made up of two championship winners. “I am delighted to be racing for Ferrari” commented Leigh, who participated in all editions of the F1 Esports championship with the colors of Mercedes . English takes the place of Italian Enzo Bonito .

Leigh dominated the former two editions of the championship, 2017 and 2018, while in 2019 the winner was precisely Tonizza, most famous with the nickname of ‘Tonzilla’ after it was called that due to a misspelling in one of the commentaries. As for the edition 2020, race on F1 2020 , the winner was the Dutch Jarno Opmeer on Alfa Romeo.

Virtual championships with Codemasters F1 games last year were followed by many fans, thanks to the health crisis that made real races impossible in the first part of the year. The Virtual Grand Prix Series , organized for charity and animated by the fights between celebrities, was particularly successful , including Formula 1 drivers Charles Leclerc and George Russell . In recent days, F1 has announced that its Virtual Grand Prix series will return on 31 January .
