Although it is possible that we have never heard of Android Things , we have all seen the advantages and disadvantages of Internet of Things or IoT devices, and it is that Android Things was a platform launched by Google in 2018 and it came as a much simpler operating system , designed for these devices, which promised security updates, an established SDK, and access to the Google Cloud platform.
However, the devices that made use of Android Things were significantly larger, more expensive, and required more power than the competing IoT devices , based on other platforms, so this is a disadvantageous platform.
Google decided last year to turn Android Things into a platform for smart speakers and displays , something that could have had some success if it weren’t for the detail that Google didn’t even bet on Android Things at any time , preferring the Google Cast platform for these purposes.
The developer console of Android Things will stop accept new projects from January 5, 2021 , day on the that updates can only be released for applications already published until January 5, 2022, where data and projects will disappear forever.
