Google Maps for Business: Customizable zoom levels, predefined map styles
Source: Heise.de added 15th Jan 2021Google is introducing two new functions for Maps as part of an update. The adaptable information for different zoom levels and the map styles predefined for specific industries are aimed at corporate customers who want to use maps in their own app, for example.
Maps shows different information depending on the magnification of the map. Now these can be adapted to your own requirements. For example, if the user is to find their way to a restaurant, the service should never hide parking spaces near the destination. So far, Maps did not offer these settings natively, developers had to resort to workarounds.
Specific POIs, own colors The predefined map styles are based to individual industries. For example, a style only shows certain information such as POIs (Points of Interest) or areas, but can also include other color palettes or changed parameters such as the standard density of the information shown.
To start with, Maps includes customized map styles for companies in the travel, real estate, retail and logistics sectors. However, Google wants to add more industries in upcoming updates.
All information about the update can be found in the Google Cloud blog. Companies can access the new features via the Google Cloud Console.
