In the weeks before AMD’s presentation of the Radeon RX graphics card series 6000 aka “Big Navi “the rumors about the new top models are piling up. The website Videocardz provides a more detailed picture of the specifications and claims to have received and cross-checked its information from various sources.

The first graphics chip with RDNA-2 architecture, navigation system 21, should according to Videocardz in different configurations for the Radeon RX 6900 XT, Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800 for Use. The top model therefore uses 72 Compute units with 5000 Shader cores (Navi 21 XTX) and should for the time being only appear in the form of AMD’s reference design.

The smaller variants would appear 72 Compute Units (4608 Shader-Cores, Navi 21 XT) or 40 (4096 Shader-Cores, Navi 21 XL). The boost clock frequencies in games should exceed the 2 GHz mark in the XT versions ex works. AMD brought heavily trimmed XL versions earlier in order to still be able to use large chips with many defects or less clock potential.

Compared to the Radeon RX 5700 XT, the transfer rate could only be increased by increasing the memory clock frequency increase – we’re talking about 4000 instead of 3500 MHz, i.e. 512 instead of 448 GByte / s.

Compared with the increase in raw performance through the many shader cores would have a relatively low transfer rate. A newly designed cache design is rumored to be effective in saving bandwidth – AMD itself heated it up with the recently registered trademark “Infinity Cache”.
