From now on, the “E-Perso” should serve as a secure, universal network ID, for government services as well as for online business with private companies. Ten years later, the balance sheet looks bleak. In the meantime almost everyone has the ID card with a chip in their wallet, but in the current “E-Government Monitor” of the business-oriented digitization initiative D 20 only six percent of the respondents said that they had ever used the online identification function had – just as few as 2019. The E-Perso just doesn’t move.

And that, although a handicap of the first few years has been eliminated: you no longer need a special reader to read the radio chip. Since 128 Android smartphones with NFC can serve as readers, since autumn 2019 also iPhones. Nevertheless 2020 no more people use the ID than before.
