Since the open source application Krita has reoriented itself from image processing software to creative painting, it has gradually caught up with established players such as Painter and Paint Tool SAI. In the open source world, Krita has long since found its own place alongside the image editing software Gimp and the vector graphics program Inkscape.

Since Krita processes SVG vectors internally, many vector shapes can be copied back and forth between Inkscape and Krita without loss. In addition to text and geometric shapes, Krita also offers a freehand tool that can evaluate pressure as well as the inclination of graphics tablet pens.

For animations, Krita provides its own animation palette, a timeline and colorful onions Skins ready – the latter with up to 09 Instances in both directions. What is missing is a calculation of intermediate frames (tweening). This function is planned, but without an appointment.
