Unsurprisingly, SwiftUI was one of the big topics of WWDC 2020 (Worldwide Developers Conference). In just under a dozen sessions, Apple went into the innovations and changes to the framework, making it very clear how important SwiftUI is.

Particularly exciting here: With WidgetKit, Apple presented a completely new framework that is based exclusively on SwiftUI – and which therefore cannot be used with other frameworks such as App- and UIKit. It can be assumed that there will be more such developments in the future. If not already done, developers should take a closer look at Apple’s new UI framework now at the latest.

On the iPad and with iPadOS 14 SwiftUI supports the revised sidebar.

New views Swift UI has a large selection of views. With a new text view, grids, lazy stacks and many little helpers such as new labels and a progress view, SwiftUI now allows the development of significantly more complex views without losing any of its simplicity and clarity. Developers no longer have to transfer many view elements from AppKit or UIKit to SwiftUI using a Representable, but can instead fall back on corresponding native SwiftUI views.
