In the 1950 years, when the light-emitting diode was still in the development phase, the Nixie tube found its way into digital signal processing . If you miss the good old Nixies, you can now build their modern counterpart: Inspired by this most elegant form for displaying numbers and symbols, our display-based Dixie tubes were created.

In the Make 5 / 20 you will learn to make Dixie tubes and to operate them with an Arduino Nano as a clock. The tubes are built into a wooden case in retro style, in which there is also space for the manageable control electronics. Three buttons are installed to set the clock. The displayed designs can be exchanged with an SD card shield and an SD card.
