Sometimes I can’t explain why a picture touches me deeply. There are poetic moments when the mind rests and this calm is expressed in me through a tender, intimate feeling beyond pictures and words. Derived from the Greek poiesis, which can be translated as “creation”, poetry describes this inner, silent effect on us humans that eludes everyday language. Particularly reduced photographs convey this silence by concentrating on the essentials.

In nature one often encounters quiet moments. Everything in it is subject to growth and decay, as is our own existence. Winter in particular produces motifs that allow us to discover poetry in unexcited, reduced imagery.
