Until a few months ago, webcams were mainly used to monitor construction sites and properties, as weather cams on tourism portals or in companies for video conferences. With the introduction of the corona-related contact restrictions, photographers discovered them for themselves.

You can also take photos with webcams, but due to their low resolution, the pictures are at best suitable for the web, for example as a profile picture in Communities. Photos that are taken as screenshots via Skype, FaceTime and Co., even lose quality due to the transmission of the video image. For photographers, however, resolution is not the number one priority. You benefit from the new and unfamiliar distribution of roles between photographer and model, which creates a space for creativity and produces images in a very unique style.
