The green theme is increasingly felt in Italy. From a research by HUAWEI it emerges that Italians are first in Europe for separate collection: the 76% does it daily, in Europe only 55%. Mate 40 Pro is equally ” green ” with the 90% less paperwork and the 28% less plastic in packaging.

HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro is the most sustainable Chinese smartphone ever. In this case, Shenzhen has committed to reduce by 28% plastic packaging and decrease by 90% the paper documentation included in the package , also eliminating the guarantee. A concrete passage that confirms the constant commitment of HUAWEI towards a technological innovation that has a positive impact in the world and in people’s lives.
HUAWEI even greener than ever
HUAWEI’s commitment in this direction also includes small things: only 3.8% of the HUAWEI Mate package 40 Pro is made of plastic . In addition, the protective wrapping has been removed from the packaging . This involves using 18. 000 kg of plastic less for each 10 millions of units . Not only because the use of paper has also been significantly optimized: the paper documentation included in the package has decreased by 90% and the paper guarantee has been completely eliminated and remains accessible in digital format, exclusively online, directly from the HUAWEI website or by scanning a QR code. The pages of the HUAWEI Mate print QuickStart Guide 40 Pro has been reduced from 340 in the sun 44 pages.
All this to decrease the paper in the packaging of HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro allow a reduction of CO2 emissions equal to beyond 12. 000 tons each 10 million units. As an additional measure, to make increasingly sustainable products, HAUWEI has introduced the use of soy ink , decomposable to 100% , instead of the classic petroleum-based ink, thus reducing the production of carcinogens and VOCs, a major source of environmental pollution.
“At Huawei, we are fully aware that the entire industry must make decisions courageous to address the environmental issues that affect us all more every day. HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro is our most sustainable smartphone . The significant reduction of plastic and paper in packaging is only the first of a series of steps we are taking towards an increasingly green future, “ commented Isabella Lazzini, Marketing and Retail Director Huawei Italia CBG.
Particularly interesting to find out how from a research conducted in Western Europe for HUAWEI, Italians have a deep awareness of sustainability and are the most active in Europe as regards separate waste collection: the 76% of the sample analyzed recycles daily, while in Europe the percentage drops to 55%.
HUAWEI also helps to reduce pollution and the negative environmental impact of the production of petroleum-based plastics by using, since 2013, bioplastic materials. Beyond the 30% of the bioplastics used comes from ecological castor oil, with a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of 62, 6%. By doing so, from 2018 Huawei reduced emissions by 612 tons . In the last year alone the Chinese company has recycled 1. 468 tons of electronic waste , and this year is on track to surpass the quota of 3. 000 tons. In addition, the 86% of devices returned for recycling in the 2019 has already been reused.
