The Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Huawei has it more and more complicated, according to a Financial Times report, is planning to build a new chip manufacturing plant in Shanghai, a plant that does not would use any kind of American technology to secure the supply of components and in this way bypass the ban that prevents you from sourcing components from the United States , although we have recently learned that some companies are obtaining a license to supply components to Huawei, these cannot be related to its 5G technology.
This new plant dedicated to the manufacture of chips and that would begin its journey without any experience, it would not be directed by Huawei, but by one of its partners called Shanghai IC R&D Center. This partner, which is dedicated to chip research and is backed by the Chinese government, will start manufacturing chips on a trial basis, being the first to be manufactured with outdated technology of 45 nm and low-end.
For 2021 it is planned to start the manufacture of 28 nm being 20 nm for the 2022 , being so and after a while, you can obtain a manufacturing process, although somewhat behind its competitors, self-sufficient for its 5G equipment . These chips will not work for your mobile phones, as a more advanced manufacturing process would be required. A factory that intends to supply in the long term the demand for the manufacture of its 5G technology only with machinery and Chinese raw material jumping the veto that the United States has imposed on the sale of components for its 5G technology.
