Hyundai announces entry into the joint venture venture Ionity, Europe’s leading high-power EV charging network, as strategic partner and shareholder

Through the participation in the joint venture, Hyundai Motor Group will lead the expansion of the high power charging network on the motorways of Europe, promoting greater use of zero-emission mobility is carbon-neutral .

Ionity is the leading high power EV charging network in Europe

The Ionity charging network uses the European charging standard CSS (Combined Charging System) , and given that the network uses energy produced at 100% from renewable sources, those who drive an electric vehicle not only can travel with zero emissions, but can also do it in a CO2-neutral way. This is an important step in making electric mobility a successful solution in Europe.

The company builds and manages a high power charging network (HPC ?? high-power charging) along European motorways, using state-of-the-art technologies with a charging capacity up to 350 kW . Each Ionity charging station consists of four charging points on average.

Ionity was founded in 2017 and is a joint venture of BMW Group, Mercedes Benz AG, Ford Motor Company, Hyundai Motor Group and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche . At IONITY, more than 75 employees are shaping the future of electric mobility. The company is headquartered in Munich (Germany), with an office also in Oslo (Norway).
