INNO3D announces RTX 3080 and 3090 with pre-installed water cooler
Source: Hardware Luxx added 09th Nov 2020INNO3D has presented its GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce GTX 3090 models with pre-installed custom water coolers . Here, too, you team up with a manufacturer of custom water coolers and install their coolers on your own cards. It is a custom water cooler that covers all important areas of the map. INNO3D uses the reference layout for the PCB of the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce GTX 3090.
The GeForce RTX 3080 / 3090 iCHill Frostbite should primarily benefit from the lower temperatures. INNO3D speaks of the GPU temperatures from 75 ° C to 62 ° C to be able to reduce. The INNO3D GeForce RTX 3080 ICHILL X3 came to 70 ° C in our tests, the larger model GeForce RTX 3090 iCHILL X3 to the 75 ° C mentioned by the manufacturer. Under which conditions INNO3D reached the 62 ° C is not entirely clear, because here, for example, the size of the radiator and the speed of the fans used play an important role. In the context of the press release, the manufacturer speaks of 60 to 65 ° C for the two models with a 360 he radiator.
At this point an outlook on our test of the EKWB EK-Quantum Vector TUF RTX 3080 / 3090 D-RGB, which will appear shortly and which shows the GPU temperature in conjunction with a 360 he can press the radiator to just above 50 ° C. A GPU temperature of 62 ° C with a custom water cooling is therefore not a particularly outstanding result.
Compared to the previous Frostbite cards, INNO3D wants to have significantly increased the processing quality. A nickel-plated copper cooler is used and the water flow in the cooler itself is said to have been optimized. The thickness of the thermal pads has been reduced to 1 mm, which should simplify the heat transfer. In addition, the actual heat sink has been shrunk to 5.5 mm. Some would certainly argue that a larger and heavier copper block is more suitable, but without knowing the details of the structure, an assessment is difficult at this point.
Regarding the technical data of the individual Cards belongs above all to the specified boost rate. With the GeForce RTX 3090 iCHill Frostbite, this is 1. 755 MHz – i.e. at the level of the air-cooled version. This also applies to the GeForce RTX 3080 iCHill Frostbite. There is no information on the power limit and it can therefore be assumed that this also applies to 340 or 370 W. remains.
Both models should be available in stores shortly. Information on the price is not given.
