Intel today announced in its Newsroom the eleventh generation of Intel Core processors under the name Rocket Lake-S and which is presented with several new features, some expected and others that respond to the natural evolution of the hardware. Among these novelties we find Intel Xe graphics, an increase up to 20 PCI Express 4.0 lanes and the incorporation of Intel Deep Learning Boost, among others.
If we go into the published documentation, we will see that the new processors, which should arrive in the first quarter of 2021, will have a maximum of 8 Cypress Cove cores , which supposedly have a increase in the CPI of at least 10 percent. Other data such as frequencies are unknown, but we hope that they will be able to compensate for the loss of the two cores, since a current generation Intel Core i9 has 10 cores.
Its Xe integrated graphics also have improvements over previous generations , then we will find a 50 % better performance over Gen 9 integrated graphics , as well as higher screen resolutions with up to 3 4K displays at 50 Hz or 2 screens 5K at 60 Hz.
Along with the new processors we will also find a new chipset of the series 500 , of which, if we have little information, we can see in the small print that will lose support for LPC, eMMC, SD3.0 and SDXC interfaces . Although we can relate this to memory cards, there are not a few low-cost laptops that use eMMC memories for solid system storage.
To At the end of the presentation we can see the configuration of the equipment used for the performance metrics, where we see how the processors with 8 cores have PL2 power limits of 250 W and PL1 of 125 W, equal to the Intel Core 10900 K, so that we can get the idea that the consumptions will be similar according to this information.
