Intel has introduced a set of new security features for the Intel Xeon third generation platform “Ice Lake”, these features include the extension called Intel SGX from Software Guard Extension already tested on the Ice Lake platform and some new features like Intel TME from Total Memory Encryption, Intel PFR of Platform Firmware Resilience and new cryptographic accelerators to improve security on the platform favoring a faster encryption of data.

These Processors that were leaked some time ago, are intended for servers and their use in companies where the security and privacy of data is fundamental , in this way if we choose a server with these processors will be able to have better functionalities when it comes to protecting the data .

With Intel TME (T otal Memory Encryption) we can guarantee that all information accessed from Intel Xeon processors is encrypted , thus preventing unwanted access with hardware attack techniques. Cryptographic acceleration allows to eliminate the impact on performance when data encryptions are performed, in this way we can obtain better efficiency in these Intel Xeon processors even if we opt for encryption of data. Increasing resilience avoids disabling platform firmware to intercept data or shut down the server thanks to Intel PFR technology.

With these new features of Intel Xeon E processors including Intel SGX, Intel is committed to security and data privacy without sacrificing performance that offer this type of processors in servers by removing load from the CPU.
