Intel Labs Day 2020: integrated photonics, neuromorphic chips, and quantum computing

Introduction Today the Intel Labs Day 2020, a virtual event where Intel’s R&D arm provides more information about their ongoing projects. Especially in times of production and stock problems, they want to offer a positive view of the future at the blue camp.
The company hopes against 2030 increase computing power in select workloads, up to a thousand times more. An ambitious claim, which the company has made before. Intel claims this should be possible by developing technologies that are not currently ‘in their infancy’ themselves.

For example, there are more than 700 scientists at Intel Labs, of which approximately 500 hold a PhD. In addition to an average 500 annual new patents, the division provides more than 100 use cases with applications in everyday life, spread over 30 different areas.
