I ntel is ditching its SSD and NAND memory business , including also its factories, selling them to SK Hynix for 9. 000 millions of dollars. In this way, the processor giant will say goodbye to one of its product lines, leaving a market where they had a catalog with different SSD units, especially in the business market.

The sale will be will be made in phases, with an initial payment of 7. 000 million and a final payment of 2. 000 million and will not be until 2025 when completed, meanwhile, Intel will continue to build NAND and SSD chips on its premises. In addition, the Optane Memory brand will remain under the control of the company, since, at least until now, its production was in the hands of Micron and not Intel itself.

The sale also includes intellectual property related to its SSDs and employees across the division and factories, an agreement after which SK Hynix will strengthen its position in the market as one of the main manufacturers of enterprise NAND memories and SSDs, positioning itself as the second manufacturer of NAND memories after Samsung

Intel has ensured that this transaction will help them prioritize their investments in differentiating technologies where they can play a greater role in the success of their clients and offer more attractive returns to our shareholders.
