On Friday the sale of the iPhones 11 and 12 Pro in Germany, Apple provided the Mac & i with both devices in advance on Wednesday, which we could try out for a few hours. What is striking about both new iPhones is the angular frame, which is made of aluminum on the iPhone 12 and stainless steel on the Pro. You only notice a difference insofar as steel reflects more.

The iPhone 12 we got the new color blue, which looks like dark blue. The iPhone 12 Pro in the new graphite color looks rather light.

New feel Although the screen of the iPhone 11 Pro is larger than that of the iPhone 11 Pro (6.1 to 5.8 inches), the whole device is only a little larger, as the rounded edges are missing. The iPhone of the same size 12 (without Pro) now has the same high-resolution OLED screen – there were no differences. Compared to the iPhone 11 the iPhone 12 is at same screen size smaller and thinner.

Both have the camera block on the back out of the housing so that they tilt on the table. A cover that protrudes over the lenses is recommended here. This is advisable anyway, because the glass backs, unlike the fronts, are not hardened with the new “Ceramic Shield” made of transparent ceramic.

Wireless charging MagSafe reports the coupling with the Charger immediately on the lock screen.

Apple also provided us with the new MagSafe Charger, with which you can use the new iPhones with 15 (instead of 7.5) watts wirelessly.

However, the magnets were so weak that the iPhone did not automatically pull itself into the correct position give tactile feedback when you swipe the phone over it.
