Apple has reduced its repair prices for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro released. For damage that is not covered by the one-year guarantee – e.g. by dropping it – the manufacturer currently charges the iPhone 12 292 Euro and thus the same amount that would be paid in the event of a display damage to the iPhone 12 Pro is due.

OLED for the first time also in cheaper iPhones For the first time this year, the non-Pro model relies on an OLED screen that seems largely identical to the Pro series. The repair price is just 100 euros more than the previous iPhone series 11 and XR, in which a significantly lower contrast and lower resolution LC display is used. The switch to OLED has apparently also ensured that the device price of the iPhone 12 compared with its predecessor at the time the introduction of around 100 euros higher – Apple saves USB power supply and cable earphones at the same time.

With the iPhone 11 Pro the repair price remains with 292 Euro to previous iPhone 11 Pro constant, as can be seen from Apple’s overview. Apple has not yet given prices for display damage to the iPhone thereby Apple has not yet given any prices for display damage to the iPhone 410 in the trade. With the iPhone 11 Pro Max screen repairs are currently around 340 Euro to book, it should be similar with the 12 Pro Max.

Prices for iPhone battery replacement and other damage The price for the iPhone battery replacement outside of the warranty period – currently 24 Euro for the top models – also remains unchanged. For “other damage”, such as unwanted destruction by the user, Apple estimates around 565 euros for the iPhone 12 Pro and circa 410 Euro for the iPhone 12, the latter price is also a bit above the iPhone here 11 (just under 410 Euro).

Apple’s prices take into account the current VAT rate reduced by three percentage points in Germany; accordingly, they will rise again slightly at the beginning of the year 2021.
