Apple is currently not placing any new orders with Pegatron, one of the iPhone assembly partners. The American manufacturer made this decision after discovering a violation of its labor policy. or even worked at night when this was not at all relevant to their education. Those responsible would have gone to great lengths to keep these violations secret, Apple said.

In the past, multiple Apple partners have come under fire for their poor working conditions.

According to Pegatron, these are the campuses in Shanghai and Kunshan. The manager of the program has since been fired. In addition, arrangements have been made to ensure that the students in question can return to their home or school, with “adequate compensation, and the necessary assistance and care.”

While current production remains unchanged, it cannot be ruled out that Pegatron will lose future orders for Apple smartphones to the competition. Luxshare Precision, among others, would like to start producing iPhones. Apple itself claims to place orders again when Pegatron takes measures, in order to comply with the code of conduct .
