It seems that Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Z Fold3 with UD camera, thus hiding the front camera behind the screen.

Samsung has been behind this technology for years. Back in 2018 we already saw on two occasions that they were developing new technologies to make this possible. However, this year ZTE went ahead with its Axon 20 5G incorporating the coveted UD camera , although erring prematurely due to quality problems on the screen. Now rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold3 will be the first from Samsung to have such a camera, smartphone expected to ship during the third quarter of 2021.

The problems of UD cameras is that the area of ​​the screen that covers them must allow light to pass through for the camera to capture it, so should lower their pixel density and, therefore, lower the quality in this area . Samsung has been busy developing algorithms to alleviate this problem and they seem to be on the right track. Through software and some other engineering tricks they plan to launch the Galaxy Z Fold3 with UD camera and without these problems of quality.

Almost in parallel, Xiaomi is also developing a smartphone for next year with a UD camera, probably the expected Mi Mix 4.
