KFConsole: Complete system with warming drawer
Source: Hardware Luxx added 23rd Dec 2020It shouldn’t be more than a good marketing offensive: The chicken fryer chain KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) has teamed up with Cooler Master, Intel, ASUS and Seagate to create a complete computer called KFConsole, which differs from everything else that has been seen in this segment so far.
In the list of equipment, it is actually quite “boring” going on. An Intel NUC 9 Extreme (test) forms the basis of the system. We have such a system with a Core i9 – 9980 HK and a GeForce RTX 2070 tested. According to Cooler Master, the graphics card installed in the KFConsole should be a model from ASUS and since we are talking about ray tracing effects, it should be at least a Dual GeForce RTX 2070 Act mini. Since Seagate is also one of the partners, a BarraCuda SSD with 1 TB is installed.
But the hardware equipment is probably not what is important for the KFConsole, because it has been up to now To call the offered components really boring.
The hardware seems to be installed in the bottom of the cylinder and so that the waste heat is not simply given off to the environment, there is another drawer under the cover which, among other things, keep the chicken pieces KFC famous for. However, the question arises as to whether it makes sense to see your own hardware in connection with a warming drawer – the connotation of the waste heat is likely to see many in a negative sense the performance is probably a bit too high. Cooler Master speaks of “Enjoy smooth and fluid high-frame-rate gameplay at up to 240 fps for ALL games, with support for 240 Hz output on 4k displays “. The outputs of the graphics card certainly support 240 Hz at 4K resolution, but all games do this too 240 Reaching FPS is probably rather unlikely.
Overall, one can assume a large-scale marketing campaign. It is more than unlikely that the KFConsole will be available to anyone in this form.
