Processors The past week was relatively busy and therefore somewhat confusing for many. A small overview with the most important news is therefore desirable, and for the past week it appears that processors, video cards and major developments have been central.

Last week, CPUs were probably the most common news. We spotted Rocket Lake chips in benchmarks, showing that the Core 11 – chips should perform more or less similarly in Geekbench and in Ashes of the Singularity. Furthermore, MSI appears to have accidentally revealed information about RKL-S in a press release. Therefore we know that one of the chip with 8 cores and 18 threads and 1, 15 volts at 4 , 3 GHz must be able to run. AMD’s smart access memory should also become a thing at Intel.

Intel exceeds its own expectations with a Xeon with 36 cores, although it doesn’t perform as well as you might hope against AMD. Team red will probably soon come with the Epyc Milan chips that this Xeon probably cannot compete with.

AMD has a desktop tool with Ryzen Master that allows you to control the power consumption and clock speeds. can tweak and monitor, but this is not available for laptops. A third party has developed its own tool with which the properties of many Ryzen Mobile chips can be adjusted. Furthermore, team red is said to be working on a chip that should be competitive with Apple’s M1-soc, although it is not clear whether it is an arm chip or an x ​​86 – CPU.

Apple’s M1-soc is now also working on Windows 10, but despite that, it is anything but disappointing. It should perform just as well as the Core i7 1165 G7, despite the x 86 – architecture is emulated and Windows software runs from a hypervisor. Although Windows now runs (unofficially) on the M1, the lead developer of the Linux kernel unfortunately says a port for Linux on these Apple devices is unlikely.

Unfortunately the shortage of stocks is still continuing, according to a webpage of an English retailer. It shows that the stock status and the number of processors still to be delivered do not look very favorable to the consumer. It turned out that a Belgian webshop had them in stock, although the price was a lot higher. This still applies at the time of writing.
