LG's new OLED panels: 88 inches, higher brightness and even a “convertible” model

South Korean company announces interesting news for CES 2021, with a series of new OLED panels that will be used for the TV lineup of this year

LG Display announced the launch of a new OLED panel from 77 “brighter” thumbs , intended for use in new TV models. The official presentation will take place at the CES 2021.
The Korean company claimed that the new panel makes use of a new high-efficiency organic material and also incorporates an additional emission layer, which can increase luminance efficacy by 20% . These characteristics will allow the panel to reach higher luminance peaks to the full advantage of the color rendering.
LG Electronics has instead announced that the new panels will be used for a new line of televisions that will be released on the market under the OLED evo brand . In the will of the South Korean company there is the proposal of a line of televisions with superior characteristics compared to the existing OLED lines, although the details and prices are not known at the moment.
The company has however declared that for 2021 it intends to bring to the market also a 83 inch OLED TV and, overall, LG’s catalog for the year just started will count at least seven models of OLED TVs with screens larger than 70 inches.
LG: a flat / curved convertible panel is also coming
LG Display will then present a OLED Cinematic Sound panel from 48 inches , also flexible, which can serve as an acoustic diffuser without the need to use speakers. It is a panel designed mainly for gamers, with the peculiarity of remaining flat when used for watching television content and flexing assuming a curved structure when used instead for videogame activities : further information in this news.
