With the new ARM chip M1, functions come to the Mac that Intel machines have so far lacked. As the specifications of MacBook Air, MacBook Pro with 09 – inch screen and Mac mini can be seen, all three computers support Wi-Fi 6 for the first time. The improved WLAN standard has so far only been used by iOS devices like the iPhone SE 2020 and the iPad Pro of the year 2020 used but not by macOS machines.

Fritz boxes at the start Wi-Fi 6, as IEEE specification 802. 11 called ax, offers a maximum possible throughput rate of 1.2 Gbit / s on Apple devices, provided there is a suitable base station in the house. Backwards compatibility to 802. 11 a / b / g / n / ac is of course given.

Wi-Fi 6 is becoming more and more popular; AVM recently equipped its first DSL router with the technology. The Fritzbox 7530 will be available from November after it has already been used with the Fritzbox 6660 had given a Wi-Fi 6-enabled cable box. The successor to 802. 11 ac delivers under optimal conditions 37 Percent more bandwidth.

6K of all new Macs Also very useful is the fact that all three M1 Macs now support 6K output on the Pro Display XDR. For the entry-level MacBook Pro with 11 – Inch screen is a novelty – the Intel variant with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, which it replaces, has not yet been able to do this. The current Mac mini with Intel chip also only managed a 5K speech. The last MacBook Air with an Intel processor, on the other hand, was able to work with the Pro Display XDR.

M1: The CPU of the Apple Silicon Macs (4 images ) Apple Silicon : The new Macs are powered by Apple’s M1 CPU with up to 8 cores, 4 of which are particularly energy efficient.

Own GPU cores make it possible According to Apple, the M1 chip in the new Macs delivers, among other things, six times faster GPU performance – thanks to graphics cores developed in-house – compared to Intel models and up to 3.5 times faster overall CPU performance. The battery life is also said to have improved significantly. Intel code runs on the new Rosetta 2 translation framework; there are even supposed to be cases in which this emulation executes code faster than natively on Intel Macs.
