Mégane eVision is a concept just shown by Renault to indicate the route that will follow with its next electric vehicles . Not only with the next sedan of the Mégane family, but also with regard to the entire range of electric vehicles of the alliance Renault / Nissan / Mitsubishi .

Inspired by the concept Renault Morphoz and by Nissan Ariya , first crossover coupé 100 electric% of the Japanese house, Mégane eVision uses the CMF-EV platform , unveiled for the first time with Ariya.

Of course the main point of reference with eVision is the next Mégane , which is configured as a direct rival of Volkswagen ID.3 , whose production will start in 2021.

“This concept looks very futuristic but is at the 95% to the line to next production car “, Renault CEO said Luca de Meo . The Mégane will not be the only vehicle to benefit from the new aesthetic, because De Meo added that “a new generation of innovative electric vehicles is about to arrive “, based on the CMF-EV platform.

The concept shown by Renault was equipped with a battery of 60 kWh with the ability to recharge up to 130 kW , a much higher power than that supported by the current Renault Zoe . This helps ensure a range of 450 kilometers on the Euro WLTP specification. Also, just like Ariya (with 63 kWh of standard equipment and optional battery from 87 kWh), the production Mégane EV is likely to offer more options as far as it’s about the battery. The concept engine produces 215 horsepower , sufficient to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 8 seconds .

As for Ariya, which however has more generous dimensions, we find the independent wheel control technology , a space content for the engine housing and more space for passengers. This is made possible by the batteries “slimline” , high only 11 cm, which have allowed the designers to develop an aerodynamic and sporty design. The batteries are also integrated into the chassis so that they can absorb impacts in the event of side collisions.

Renault added that the eVision looks like an SUV, but it is more like a compact crossover. With subtle LED matrix headlights, sinuous body panels, electrified door handles and a rear spoiler, as mentioned, it also brings to mind the Morphoz concept.

Even the interior will be particular, although Renault has not yet released any images. The floor will be flat and very low and there will be a “slim and elegant instrument cluster” as well as a new modular passenger environment with integrated storage.

Renault also announced that it will expand its range of electric vehicles and PHEV with models Arkana, Captur and Megane . It is therefore preparing to launch its offensive at Volkswagen, and in particular at ID.3, of which the new Mégane will certainly represent the main weapon.
