Mercedes presented its strategy for the coming year and a half on Monday. A total of six battery-electric cars are to go into production, some of which will also roll off the assembly line in Germany. The beginning is marked by the upper and lower end of the planned offer.

EQS – the electric S-Class It has been known for some time that Mercedes is providing the S-Class with a similarly designed but battery-electric sedan. The EQS will have all the options of the new S-Class, including semi-autonomous driving on level 3 and the next generation of the MBUX infotainment system. When it comes to the exciting topic of powertrains, Daimler is not yet fully into the cards, but a few things are becoming apparent: The battery is probably already more than in the base model kWh, the range should be at 500 km, optionally up to 700 km.

With the maximum charging power, Mercedes could be the first brand to fully exhausts what some rapid charging stations can deliver: 350 kW in the Lace would be possible. EQE and EQS as SUV A battery-electric sedan is now also confirmed, which will be called EQE and still 2021 should start. It will initially be built in Bremen, and shortly thereafter in Beijing. The start of production of two large SUVs with e-drives is planned for the following year, which are particularly important in the North American market. Traditionally, there are different ideas about what the right vehicle size is. So far, one can only guess in which direction it could go: The EQE SUV will probably be a bit bigger than a current Mercedes GLE, the EQS SUV should even surpass the GLS. At the top here is also with 350 kW charging power and significantly more than 100 kWh battery capacity to be calculated.

Race for battery cells End 2022, eight Mercedes models should be battery-powered, because the EQC (test) and EQV are added to the ones mentioned here both of which are already available. Mercedes believes it is well positioned with a broad line-up consisting of combustion engines, plug-in hybrids and battery-electric drives.
