Microsoft has started the extensive rollout of the new Edge version 88 . The update brings with it some innovations, including an integrated password manager, but also more colorful themes. In a video, Microsoft presents some designs that can be downloaded from the company’s website. In addition to abstract colors and classic motifs, such as landscapes, there are also themes for some popular games from Microsoft, for example Halo or the recently released Flight Simulator. The themes not only change the appearance of the start page, but also include an individual address bar and a revised tab overview. But even without themes, users expect a few design changes. Microsoft used the update to revise some icons that should give the browser an even more modern look.

Another feature that comes with version 88 is the new password manager. This automatically suggests a secure password when creating a user account on a website and synchronizes this immediately via the Microsoft account with all networked devices so that the user no longer needs an external program for this. In addition, a warning should appear in the future if one of the passwords used appears in a leaked database and is therefore no longer secure. The so-called “sleeping tabs” have also been added. This function is intended to shut down unused tabs in the background in order to save system resources and further improve the performance of the browser. Finally, with the introduction of the new version, users will be able to synchronize their tabs and history between all devices used.
