Mozilla protects several Firefox editions against critical vulnerabilities

Olivia von Westernhagen Mozilla secured its Firefox, Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) and Firefox for Android browser against a critical vulnerability on Wednesday. Users should as soon as possible on the updated versions Firefox 84. 0.2, Firefox for Android 84. 1.3 and Firefox ESR 78. 6.1 or keep an eye out for updates.
Mozilla’s Summary Security Advisory 2021 – 01 gives a few details about CVE – 2020 – 16044. According to this, the loophole could have been misused with “sufficient effort” by means of manipulated SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) packets in order to execute arbitrary code remotely.
