Introduction

Netac is a flash storage expert company based out of Shenzen, China. It was founded in 1999 and has always had a focus on flash-based products, such as USB sticks and memory cards, but also DRAM-based memory like DDR4. While the company’s main focus of operation is their OEM business, producing flash products for various clients, they are now making a big push to enter the DIY retail space with their own products.

In this review we’re taking a look at the Netac NV7000-T, which is the successor the NV7000. While the NV7000 was based on the Phison E18, the NV7000-T uses the Maxio MAP1602 controller, which we’ve seen on the Acer Predator GM7 before. Both the GM7 and NV7000-T use YMTC’s 128-layer NAND flash, but the NV7000-T has newer firmware. In order to achieve more attractive price points, the NV7000-T is a DRAM-less drive, but the Maxio controller handles that situation very well.

The Netac NV7000-T is available in capacities of 512 GB ($35), 1 TB ($50), 2 TB ($80) and 4 TB ($160). Endurance for these models is set to 320 TBW, 640 TBW, 1280 TBW and 2560 TBW, respectively. Netac includes a five-year warranty with the NV7000-T.
