Now follows the announcement of a new feature, which will soon be available to customers around the globe. This is what is known as “Shuffle Play”, which was already available for test purposes from some users last autumn.

The idea is that in the future customers will have a button in the main menu of the Find streaming services that allow you to play a track at random. An algorithm is used here, which is supposed to filter out suitable films and series on the basis of the content that has been consumed so far, and one’s own watchlist is also accessed.

After the new feature has been rolled out, customers should be informed of the new function with a large, red arrow. In addition, a short text should explain how it works. According to Netflix, the test version has already met with a very positive response, but the company does not provide exact figures. With the introduction of a shuffle function, Netflix would like to adapt its streaming service more to traditional television. Viewers should have the choice of actively making a decision about a particular title or simply letting chance decide.
