Information can be distributed in a blockchain and stored protected against manipulation. Digital labels with NFC chips that securely store cryptographic signatures create the link between the physical product and the blockchain via smartphone app. With the Secora chips, Infineon is now presenting such a solution, which was developed in cooperation with the Austrian company Block 42.

Secora Blockchain combines a tiny crypto chip and a radio antenna in a very flat housing that is less than 0.3 millimeters thick. The technology can be hidden in the product itself or behind a label.

The security chip can encrypt data and execute signatures with a protected private key. If an app on an NFC-enabled smartphone establishes the connection to the associated blockchain entry, the signature key is not in the app or in a secure element of the smartphone, but in the Secora chip.

Brand protection Infineon’s Secora Blockchain is intended to protect branded products from counterfeiting. According to the manufacturer, this not only enables the origin of the product to be reliably documented, but also changes or repairs to the product, the use of original spare parts or a change of owner if collector’s items are involved. Technology is used in the background can be selected. Infineon offers developers a “Security 2Go Starter Kit” with NFC-compatible SmartCards and provides software tools for this on GitHub.

As a system partner, Infineon mentions apart from Block 42 also Coinfinity and Rell.io (Rell.Chain).
