The United Kingdom will definitely leave the European Union but this does not seem to be the will of the operators British telephone numbers, at least as regards the roaming rates with European countries .
The new rapping regime rti between the United Kingdom and the European Union in force since January 2021 should in theory provide for the abandonment of the roaming tariffs in force until now, thanks to which British citizens can enjoy the same type of service in the EU countries in terms of phone calls and traffic data of what they get on the national territory.
The same obviously applies to EU citizens traveling to Great Britain , a dynamic that has allowed travelers within the European Union not to have to go to high rates to use their mobile devices abroad.
The main UK telephone providers, reports the BBC, have however confirmed that they want to continue to maintain the same rates in force now also from January 2021 , therefore in fact without any change for British citizens who bear in one of the s EU states. The decision of EE, O2, Vodafone and Three is therefore clear and it is conceivable that it will also be shared by the others virtual operators present in the United Kingdom.
We remember as from 2015 the European Union intervened to eliminate roaming charges for Union citizens who use telephone, voice and data, in one of the nations belonging to the union. This has simplified the rates as well as avoided the risk of returning home with the surprise of very high cost bills due to roaming rates.
