Novasom M9: New Raspberry Pi alternative supports M.2 memory, HDMI and eDP
Source: Hardware Luxx added 02nd Nov 2020With the Novasom M9, Novasom Industries presents an alternative to the popular single-board platform Raspberry Pi. The new model supports not only fast M.2 memory, but also the connection of multiple displays. The board has a dimension of 105 mm x 56 mm.
The CPU forms an RK 3399, which with two Cortex-A 72 – and four Cortex-A 53 – cores and thus offers a comparatively high computing power. In addition, a 4 GB RAM is used. A full-size HDMI output and a DisplayPort output are available for connection to a monitor. The connection of popular displays from maker circles is also possible via MIPI. This also offers the option of connecting cameras.
The internal storage capacity is up to 128 GB. Compared to the competition, the Novasom M9 also offers an M.2 slot as a special feature, via which the corresponding SSDs can even be connected using the powerful NVMe protocol. A slot for the use of microSD cards is also installed, which can also be used to install an operating system. Ethernet port for connection to a network. WiFi is available for wireless connections 802. 11 a / b / g / n / ac ready. There is also a 2.5 mm audio connection. At the moment there is no information on price or release date. The models of the M9 series are largely compatible with the Raspberry Pi via Raspmood.
