NVIDIA and CINECA are building the world's most powerful artificial intelligence supercomputer

The supercomputer in Italy will provide approximately 10 exaFLOPS computing power with FP 16 accuracy.

NVIDIA has invested significantly in AI in recent years in particular. The company has now announced a project to build the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence supercomputer in collaboration with the CINECA consortium of Italian universities

. The supercomputer of NVIDIA and CINECA has been christened Leonardo and will be built in collaboration with the French company Atos. The supercomputer is based on Atos BullSequana XH 2000 nodes, which are built from four NVIDIA Ampere architecture computing circuits and one Intel unspecified processor. Connections are the responsibility of the Mellanox HDR 200 Gb / s InfiniBand network.

In total, the entire supercomputer will have almost 14 000 GPUs. NVIDIA has not specified which circuits are more specific, but most likely they are A 100 circuits for computing purposes. The whole supercomputer will
