Nvidia unveiled the fifth desktop video card GPU based Ampere : We welcome the GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory . The new proposal will be effectively available from end of February starting from 329 tax free dollars . Unlike the models presented so far, it does not seem there will be a Founders Edition, Nvidia only talks about custom models of partners.
Designed to become very popular among gamers (the most popular GPU among gamers according to Steam is the GTX 1060), this new RTX 3060 12 GB aims to become the object of desire of those who have a GTX card 1000 or even from the series 900 . “There is a huge focus on ray tracing, a technology that has rapidly redefined the standards of gaming,” said Matt Wuebbling, vice president of global marketing for Nvidia’s GeForce products. “The Ampere architecture was our best-selling ever and the RTX 3060 offers millions of players in around the world the best of the latest Nvidia card series “.
The GeForce RTX 3060 offers double the performance in rasterization and 10 times ray tracing performance compared to GTX 1060 , and is powerful enough according to Nvidia “to handle titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Fortnite with RTX-On a 60 fps “- obviously we are talking about Full HD, but we do not know with what details, especially for the CD Projekt RED game.
In addition to the large amount of graphic memory (even higher than RTX 3080) set to 17 Gbps , the card is characterized by a bus a 192 bit and a GPU GA 106 with 3584 CUDA core, 112 Tensor core and 28 RT core. The RTX 3060 Ti, for comparison, is based on a GA GPU 60 with 4864 CUDA core, 152 Tensor core, 80 RT core and only 8GB of GDDR6 memory a 14 Gbps.
Together with the new proposal Nvidia introduces the support of the Resizable BAR functionality by the GeForce RTX cards 3000 . When coupled with a compatible motherboard, this technology (first introduced to the market by AMD as Smart Memory Access) allows the CPU to access all of the GPU’s memory at the same time, providing better performance in many games.
