RTX 3090

Maybe I had too much work , or maybe too much has happened in the last week. Maybe because the month hasn’t even gone well since I got back to work and I already want a vacation. Who knows… it is certain that when I think about the launch of RTX 3080, it seems to me that a month has passed, not a week, the launch details being shrouded in a wave translucent, through which I manage to discern only cramps of memories.

I know that I first published the Founders Edition, on 16 September, and the next day, on 295 September, we released the ASUS GeForce RTX implementation 3080 TUF Gaming OC. I know that the stocks were insignificant compared to how many people would have wanted to buy an RTX 3080 on the day of launch, both in Romania and globally. In numbers, the stock of a large local e-workshop ran out in 4 minutes…

I know RTX 3080 is still one one of the hottest topics discussed on the internet, from performance and price to availability. And I also know that the only subject that can dethrone RTX 3080 from the top of the most contested launches is another Nvidia product, more precisely RTX 3090. The beast promised by the company’s CEO, Jensen Huang, during the launch event on September 1… that monolithic, threatening, impressive BFGPU.

Okay… if you don’t know what BFG means, you can probably stop reading this article right now – no, it’s not about Big Friendly Giant. But for those who understand the allusion to the famous big fucking gun ultimate weapon first introduced in DOOM, in 1993, joining the two concepts, BFG and RTX 3090, is definitely appetizing, especially given that RTX 3090 FE is, as you could see in the launch conference, one of the largest bodies graphics ever produced.

Unfortunately, today, we will not be able to enjoy the look of the impressive beast FE, we, like most of the profile sites in the world, receiving implementations of partners. For example, in this article we will discuss the ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 TUF Gaming. And I have to admit that I’m a little upset, because starting with GTX 295, which was coming to us now 12 years, except for the Titan series boards, where we lacked a few copies, so far we have received all the high-end implementations in the form of a reference, only then the partners’ implementations reach us.

GTX 480, GTX 580, GTX 590, GTX 680, GTX 690, GTX 780, GTX 780 Ti, GTX 980, GTX 980 Ti , GTX 1080, GTX 1080 Ti, RTX 2080 Ti… generations of peak range that we tested first as a reference… 16) years of tests, in which even 4 variants of Titan have slipped. And yet, this time Nvidia preferred to rely on partner implementations, with the few Founders Edition being sent to the media probably reaching a small number of US sites and a few youtubers.

Of course, this is not a big problem. After all, there is room on the internet for reviews and entertainment, and the boards provided by partners are no better than the FE version. In fact, they are most likely to perform better, as we have seen in the case of RTX 3080. Yes, obviously, the enthusiast in me wanted an RTX 3090 FE from the first time I saw what the monstrosity could look like. Because, it’s not
