Page 1: PC gaming in the living room: nerdytec’s Couchmaster Cycon² tried out

It should not be a secret that the gaming industry is enjoying an increased influx due to the ongoing corona pandemic. Whether handheld, console or gaming PC, more and more video games are finding their way into Germans’ own four walls. Since the majority of gamers do not have their own “man cave”, mostly due to lack of space, the extensive game sessions take place in their own living room. As is well known, it is usually difficult to use a mouse or keyboard on the couch at home, which is why gamers primarily use consoles here. But that’s exactly what nerdytec wants to change.

In March we got closer to the nerdytec Couchmaster Cybot in camouflage look watched. Under the buzzword “Couch Gaming”, the manufacturer offers a solution for all PC gamers who want to operate both keyboard and mouse comfortably from their own sofa. How the latest product, the Couchmaster Cycon², fared, we clarify in this test.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Design and Art at the University of Wuppertal, nerdytec developed the revised iteration of the Couchmaster. However, the Cycon² is not only suitable for operating a gaming PC on television. The Lapdesk product can also be used as a shelf for the notebook. There are various solutions here, but these are usually on the legs and thus cause a considerable build-up of heat over time. This can have a negative effect, especially on hot summer days. The surface of the Couchmaster Cycon², on the other hand, is completely free-floating. Thus, gaming sessions over several hours do not cause discomfort. The Cycon² also serves as a storage location for your own smartphone or tablet. Furthermore, the Lapdesk supplies up to four devices with power (900 mA max .)

The Couchmaster Cycon² can be used in a Black Edition (179 Euro) as well as in Fusion Gray (179 Euro) as well as in the variant Cypunk (199 Euro) can be pre-ordered via the nerdytec website. According to the manufacturer’s information, the delivery should start from 24. December 2020.
