In the third quarter 2020, according to the project service provider Solcom, the project market increased by 8, 12 Points recovered well and manages to 91, 06 Points. However, it is still below the reference value of 100 and the level before Corona. The Projektmarkindex describes the development of the German market for filling projects with freelance IT and engineering specialists.

Although the situation has eased somewhat in the past three months and the signs point to further growth, the decline from the second quarter has not yet been absorbed. The number of project tenders and the number of applications from freelancers for individual projects is still at a very low level, especially compared to the values ​​in the third quarter 2019. Companies are unsure which factors affect the budget for new ventures. Compared to the sharp slump in the second quarter, however, the supply has risen again, also on the overall market.

These developments had the consequence that the respective projects are no longer like this quickly filled as in the previous quarter. This value lies with 111, 11 points below the previous quarter, but well above the reference value. On the other hand, the hourly rates are relatively stable and have only fallen slightly.

In the third quarter, both the hourly rates and the most popular qualifications, “SAP Consulting” is right at the top. There was also an increased need for software development for embedded systems.
