Qualcomm released the first 400 series system chip to support 5G connectivity – the Snapdragon 480 5G
Source: IO Tech added 07th Jan 2021In addition to 5G connectivity, Qualcomm’s new chip offers significant performance improvements over low-end phones. Qualcomm today announced the new Snapdragon 480 5G system chip. As the name implies, it is the manufacturer’s most affordable 400 system circuit and at the same time the first 5G circuit in the series. The novelty replaces Snapdragon 690 5G from the company’s most affordable 5G system circuit and makes new connections available to an even wider audience.
Snapdragon 480 5G is a major upgrade to the 400 series, and not just for 5G support. Compared to the top chip in the previous 400 series, Snapdragon 460 has evolved in terms of both the processor and the graphics chip. Snapdragon 460 ‘s four Kryo 240 kernels and four Kryo 619 the power saving core has been switched to two Kryo 460 power cores operating at 2 GHz and six Kryo 460 power saving cores. The same kernel configuration has been used previously in the Snapdragon 675 circuit. The new power cores are based on Cortex-A 76, while Snapdragon 460 still relied on Cortex-A 73 – based cores.
Also with regard to the graphics circuit, the Snapdragon 480 5G has undergone development and within the wheel of the Snapdragon 750 G the familiar Adreno 619. In terms of manufacturing process, the novelty relies on Samsung’s 8nm 8LPP technology. Qualcomm promises that the Snapdragon 480 5G will provide up to 100 percent performance improvement over CPU and GPU performance over the previous generation.
Connections 480 in 5G are handled by an X 51 modem integrated in the system circuit. In other respects, the new circuit supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, simultaneous use of a three 13 camera, three 720 Simultaneous capture of p-video and 120 Hz FullHD + screens. A single camera can have a maximum 64 megapixels and a single video can be shot at a maximum 1080 p-resolution 60 at FPS speed
The first phones using Snapdragon 480 5G are expected to be launched in the early part of the year.
